Fuel Cells For Your Laptop
Would you like to have your laptop last 14 hours in one go? Then you must want the fuel cell. Personlly, I don't like to pay $4 for a cartridge of methanol (which is used to power the laptop). I don't know how much the 14 hours are worth compared to recharging my laptop, what, 7 times on regular electricity. Someone needs to do a comparison.
Anyways, Intel is iffy about using them, and if Intel is iffy, that means AMD has to pick up the slack and support the fuel cell. Or maybe it's up to the motherboard manufacturers, I don't know. Usually they like to keep things up to Intel or AMD's official specs.
If you don't know who Intel or AMD are, they make the CPUs of your laptop. Which is basically the 'brain' of a computer. I suck at explaining stuff, so you're gonna have to accept that. And if you want to fry your brain by looking at all the news about computers, try www.hardocp.com for a good dose. They do have a "consumer" section, but that's mostly "this computer is good for you, this one is bad for you". Then again, maybe you'll like that kind of thing. Like a Best Buy rep. except he doesn't annoy the hell out of you (no offense BB reps.).

Last I heard, Toshiba was the manufacturer stepping up to the plate on this one. The article I read said that the fuel cell would be in addition to a normal battery, so you would only need the cartridge for flights to Tokyo or something.
Eventually, fuel cells might replace batteries altogether. Batteries we have today just can't give us the power and don't last very long (can't hold a charge after about a year - JUNK!).
Hey, if you've got the bucks for a fancy laptop, whats $4 for a cartridge of methanol?
Want a fancy laptop that will SUCK the life out of your battery? Here...*drool*
